NFO— New Fund OfferThe first subscription period of a newly launched mutual fund scheme.

ELSS— Equity Linked Savings SchemeA tax-saving mutual fund category that comes with a lock-in period.

IDCW— Income Distribution cum Capital WithdrawalThe term now used in place of the older word 'dividend' in mutual funds.

TER— Total Expense RatioThe annual cost charged by the fund for managing your investment.

Exit Load— Exit LoadA charge that may apply if you redeem your investment before a specified period.

Lock-in Period— Lock-in PeriodThe minimum time during which the investment cannot be redeemed.

Benchmark— BenchmarkA reference index used to compare how a mutual fund is performing.

Folio Number— Folio NumberYour unique account number with a mutual fund house.
